After Seven on Kerr Street: Where Kerr Village's Evenings Go This Fall

  • October 8, 2026

Kerr Village's cafés close early. At Wet Coffee, Vereda Central, Lyla's House and Kerr Street Cafe, the last order comes in the late afternoon or around 7 p.m. at the latest. In 2026 one new café on the strip kept its doors open well past that. MOTW Coffee & Pastries at 335 Kerr Street now serves until 10 p.m. on weeknights and until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

That changes how a fall evening on Kerr Street works. Kerrfest packed Westwood Park September 11 to 13, and the next date on the Kerr Village calendar is the Christmas Tree Lighting & Holiday Market on November 28. For the eight weeks in between, evenings on the street run on a few businesses with late hours and on events just outside the strip.

The daytime strip, by closing time

Visit Oakville's August 2026 guide to Kerr Village names Wet Coffee and Vereda Central as the established favorites. It lists MOTW and Lyla's House as the newly opened cafés. Each one posts its hours on its own website, and those hours show where the day ends.

Café Address Last call
Kerr Street Cafe 298 Kerr St. 4 p.m. daily, kitchen until 3 p.m.
Lyla's House 326 Kerr St. 5 p.m. Mon, 6 p.m. other days
Vereda Central Coffee Roasters 310 Kerr St. 7 p.m. Mon to Sat, 6 p.m. Sun
Wet Coffee 111 Kerr St. 7 p.m. daily
MOTW Coffee & Pastries 335 Kerr St. 10 p.m. Mon to Thu, midnight Fri and Sat, 10 p.m. Sun

On a Saturday, the gap between Vereda Central's last call and MOTW's is five hours. Wet Coffee opens at 7 a.m. every day, and Vereda Central at 7:30 a.m. on weekdays. The strip has always been set up for mornings and early afternoons. Brunch fits that pattern too. Visit Oakville points brunch seekers to Kerr Street Cafe and Sandwich Society.

The café that stays open

MOTW is a U.S.-based chain, and the Kerr Street shop is its first Canadian location. Inside Halton reported in the spring that the chain had grown to 15 locations in the United States. Shamaas Nyazee, who owns the Oakville store, gave early June as the opening target. "We want to bring to Canada a space where everyone feels welcomed," he told the paper.

The menu is lattes, matcha, espresso drinks, refreshers, teas, desserts and Yemeni chai. The room has a real moss wall and indoor trees. The café describes its menu as fully halal. It also invites people to come in to study or work remotely, which matches the late hours. Before MOTW, a cup of coffee on Kerr Street after 7 p.m. generally meant ordering it at a restaurant. Now there is a café counter open until 10 p.m. on weeknights.

Dinner and a stage, closer to Speers

Kerr Street's evening businesses sit mostly at the two ends of the strip. Taken in address order, from the lake end up toward Speers Road, the route looks like this:

  1. Narenj, 131 Kerr St. serves Persian-inspired brunch and dinner, so it covers both ends of the day.
  2. MOTW, 335 Kerr St. is the late café in the middle of the strip, a few doors from Vereda Central and Lyla's House.
  3. JAC's Bistro, 379 Kerr St. serves rustic Italian and French cooking. According to its own site, it opens at noon Tuesday through Friday and at 4 p.m. on Monday and Saturday. It runs until 10 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and until 9 p.m. on Monday, and it is closed Sundays.
  4. The Gingerman Social Eatery, 416 Kerr St. is a restaurant and patio bar serving gastropub food. It opens at 11:30 a.m. every day and hosts weekly live music on a custom-built stage.

The Gingerman opened in October 2011, which makes this month its fifteenth anniversary on the street. Its home page says music is weekly but doesn't name a night, so the best way to plan around a set is to call ahead at 905-849-9898.

On a Saturday, these hours fit together. Dinner at JAC's can run until 10 p.m. The Gingerman is two blocks north. MOTW, a short walk back down the street, serves coffee and dessert until midnight. On Sundays, when JAC's is closed, Narenj and the Gingerman are the dinner options on the strip, and MOTW stays open until 10 p.m.

October's calendar sits just past the strip

The Kerr Village BIA's events page doesn't list a Halloween program for 2026 as of early October. Its trick-or-treat page still shows the 2025 event. The closest October events sit at the edges of the neighborhood: north on Speers Road, west on Bridge Road and east downtown.

  • Rocky Horror Picture Show at Film.Ca Cinemas, 171 Speers Rd., October 30 to November 1. This is the closest event to the north end of Kerr Street, a few minutes from the Gingerman.
  • Oakville Historical Society Ghost Walks, October 13 to 30. Walks leave from 110 King St. at 6:30 and 8 p.m.
  • Boos & Brews, a haunted walk combined with a pub stop in Downtown Oakville, October 13 to 28, starting at 7:15 p.m.
  • Oakville Symphony: Enchanted at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts, 130 Navy St., October 31 to November 1.
  • Oakville Museum Pumpkin Parade, 8 Navy St., November 1 from 5 to 7 p.m.
  • Tiny Tots in Downtown Oakville on the morning of October 31, a trick-or-treat event run downtown rather than in Kerr Village.

Two longer exhibitions run through the gap and past the holidays. The World of Threads Festival is a free textile-art exhibition at the Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre, 2302 Bridge Rd. It runs from September 23, 2026 to January 17, 2027. Oakville Galleries opens Aideen Barry: Silent Songs on October 24, at Gairloch Gardens and at Centennial Square, 120 Navy St. It runs to January 23, 2027, and gallery hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Both are daytime outings, so they fit around the café strip's hours rather than MOTW's.

November 28, and the plan behind the street

The Kerr Village Christmas Tree Lighting & Holiday Market brings programmed events back to Westwood Park, 173 Kerr St., on Saturday, November 28. Visit Oakville's listing still shows the time as TBA. This is the same park that hosted Kerrfest's three days of music in September.

Longer term, the street itself has a plan on paper. On September 22, 2025, Town Council endorsed the Kerr Village streetscape study, and the cost of its recommended improvements was sent to the 2026 budget process. The Town describes the study as a framework to guide future spending on the public realm, and no construction schedule has been announced. Separately, Metrolinx told Inside Halton that the Kerr Street rail grade separation remains under consideration, with no restart date. So for this fall, the street's shops and sidewalks look the way they do today.

Until the trees go up at Westwood Park, Kerr Street's evenings depend on posted hours. The cafés close by 7 p.m. JAC's serves until 10 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and MOTW stays open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

The team at Bernard Team follows Kerr Village closely, from new businesses on the strip to the streetscape plans the Town is weighing. If you'd like to talk through what those changes mean for your corner of Central Oakville, we're glad to sit down over coffee on Kerr Street. Schedule a consultation whenever it suits you.
